The charming high valley of Wildschönau offers easily accessible walks in the Kitzbühel Alps. There are no rugged mountains in the Wildschönau. The characteristics of the Wildschönau landscape can be described as follows: gentle grassy mountains, alpine hikes, forest paths and gorges as well as high peaks and dramatic mountains. Fantastic fun for all the family: The Wildschönau Drachental Family Park in Oberau has a spectacular alpine coaster "Drachenflitzer", play lake, bike course, trampoline, 5D cinema and much more.Travelling from the direction of the Brixental valley or the Inntal valley, the first holiday village you will encounter is the charming village of Niderau. As you make your way further into the Wildschönau valley, you will come across the villages of Oberau, Auffach and Thierbach, which all have their own endearing characteristics. The Schatzbergbahn ski lifts are based in Auffach, and during winter, this takes you directly into the spectacular Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau ski resort. This resort is a popular ski resort in the Tyrolean Unterland region, especially with the locals, due to the choice of 109 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes, 47 modern ski lifts, charming rustic alpine huts, and all the great fun to be had in this picturesque setting. Winter in the Wildschönau has many more exciting activities on offer besides alpine skiing. Explore the 40 kilometres of winter walking trails leading you through the delightful winter landscape. Alternatively, you can glide through the snow and get to know the region on cross-country skis along the 50 kilometres of tracks. A memorable activity and exciting thrill suited for the entire family is tobogganing on one, or even all of the three toboggan tracks in our region. Ski mountaineering is a real challenge, and with the highest mountain Große Beil (2,309 m) is perfectly suited for all active holiday makers to explore the delightful winter landscape while conquering this mountain peak on their skis.
