Alpbachtal
Rugged alpine landscapes meet lush rolling hillsides. The holiday region Alpbachtal is nestled between the Kitzbüheler Alpen and the Rofan mountain range, offers a range of beautiful landscapes, and is renowned as one of Austria's pleasure regions.
One of the main attractions is the town of Kramsach, located on the northern bank of the river Inn, which is known as the "bathtub of Tyrol". There are four idyllic lakes nearby, which are all very popular swimming lakes.
On the southern bank of the Inn you will find Rattenberg, known as the smallest Austrian city, with one of the most fascinating old-towns. The medieval city centre is very charming with narrow streets and glass-manufacturing shops known throughout the Inntal valley. Just behind Brixlegg, on the other side of a hill, is the start of the picturesque Alpbachtal valley, which runs to the south. The flower-village of Alpbach is a charming destination with wood-chalets and unique flower decorations, which earned Alpbach the prize of the "most beautiful village in Austria".
During winter, the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau entices all holiday makers and ski enthusiasts with many kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes to discover. During the warmer seasons, guests can explore the stunning alpine landscape along the many hiking trails or mountain bike routes.
This region is known for the wide array of different landscapes from the lakes, to the Rofan mountain range, to the rugged Sagzahn peak for adventurous hikers, and then offering the alternative in the Alpbachtal valley with rolling hills, lush meadows, and alpine pastures perfectly suited for leisure hikers or families. In June, a traditional celebration illuminates most mountain peaks with large bonfires for a memorable holiday experience in the Alps.
