There are so many hiking-, walking-, mountaineering-, biking-, and mountain biking trails available so that you can go out and explore the exciting alpine landscape of the Nature Park Karwendel and the Rofan mountain range. Tyrol's Eagle Walk, a connected hiking route as the eagle would fly across the Tyrolean Alps, has five of its stages leading through this region. Alternatively, you can take in the beautiful scenery while enjoying a round of golf at one of the two golf courses in this area. During winter, you can pick your favourite of the four ski resorts with more than 30 different lifts and perfectly groomed slopes.
With fantastic fun activities for all children, this is a great family holiday destination and many private lodgings here have specialized in catering to families making the Achensee region one of the quality-checked "Family Tyrol Villages". A holiday at the Achensee offers so much more than outdoor sports as the home of Tyrolean Stone Oil, and the oldest fully active steam cog railway in Tyrol. You can enjoy a truly memorable holiday in this stunning region. The region offers a range of different landscapes to choose from with the village of Wiesing in the Inntal valley, which is 360 metres lower than the villages at the Achensee lake, such as Maurach, Achenkirch, and Pertisau, and the picturesque village of Steinberg, which is nestled in the Rofan mountain range.
